I like this article, though, as with anything, grain of salt. I've been taken in by alot of fear mongering articles on the web not to be cautious ^_-
Regarding the dampening of cheers from Cass, I highly doubt that the producers of something as lavish as that would have trouble miking up the boys such that they catch the singing more than the cheers. Surely ambient noise is recorded on a seperate track, the boys on another? In a studio as large as that, they would have 24 seperate channels to meddle around with on the mixing console. Even if they have the worst 8 track mixers available(extremely improbable), it would still be 5 boys + music + ambience. That's 7, and you can even bus the MC's together one track.
So really it's no excuse telling people not to cheer. Unless, maybe they're sloppy or something, then LOL. Lern2studioproduceplz.
Cass, the boys might like 'attentive listening' from the Japanese, but I'm sure they still love the fevered cheering from you. :D The cultures are totally different, and wouldn't you want to give them something different after their stay in Japan?
It is sad that because of SNSD, fans are pulling funding out from SMe's feet. It hurts only the boys, because they in turn lose work opportunities due to low demand. Conversely, SMe cannot produce better work because of this non-funding, and everyone stands to lose.
However, SMe has brought this upon itself. In a culture where the youth are so passionate and easily moved, they have, by creating DBSK preyed upon the young minds who buy easily into the entertainment. I do not despise DBSK (I love them actually hehe) , and while the boys themselves are not at fault, what they are has created this phenomenon. When you attack this in any way, it reacts, sometimes violently.
The silence at SNSD's performance earlier this year is only one of the symptoms. It is a group of people operating as one living breathing entity to express their displeasure, for which they have every right.
(IB if Tiffany can express her rude, callous opinions, then we too as a fanbase may be allowed to express ours)
SMe has no right to criticise this: these are the children of your nation. Like Dr Frankenstein you have led them astray and now you lament your loss of control. Instead of being reactionary, why not guide and teach? It is only setting a further bad example (as with the vociferous Dj who claimed he would play SNSD songs 24/7) that to get something you want, you must fight. (oddly enough, I managed to get a SNSD fan to agree with me on this. LOL)
In this manner, SMe itself is stuck: if they make SNSD disband, then it would be viewed as a 'win' for the FCs. While this is dandy to the eyes of a fan, it means that investor relations can be troubled for it would be seen as "SMe is their fangirl's bitch". Not a wholesome prospect in business terms...
.. though I can't say that SNSD itself was a fruitful business venture in terms of income generated from album sales. I'll refrain from commenting about that because I don't follow their grosses-- I'm not a fan, I'm plainly not interested. However, the amount of hits related to SNSD skyrockets due to antis as well as actual fans. Site meters count hits, and if they're there, it's viable moolah to be made.
As for Mirotic itself, while I find the underhanded sarcasm distasteful, I must applaude SMe for making a sexy video that draws fans as well as lampooning them at the same time. Well played, old fellow, but I'm almost certain that the backlash for this will be more than payback in time to come. In a moment of emotion myself, i must take this opportunity to say a big fat F**k you very much ^^.
As for Bigeast, I want to say that I love Japan, Japanese culture etc etc. However, they do discard fads like anything. Too long away from Japan, and the boys will lose their shine to the Japanese. Who says they are calm sheep who will take things like this lying down? If anything they can be just as meticulous, if not more so. A single visit to 2chan will evidence this very clearly.
So far, Avex Trax has done a bang up job promoting them and keeping them at the top. One false move though, and the fickle-minded will be all too quick to drop them from their conciousness. They say Hollywood has a half hour memory, but that's no longer an exclusive attitude.
The best way to express financial non-viability in SNSD is to never ever click on official links for them, sponsored links for them. Not buy products they endorse, etc. You can make up numbers, but ultimately, advertiser's gratification comes from an increase in sales. Less demand, less promotion. In the end, that is how stars fade away.
Summary for tl/dr crowd: Yeah, SMe sucks, they made their own bed, now they have to lie in it. This boycott hurts everyone, thanks alot for nothing you jerkoffs. Oh yeah and don't touch anything with SNSD on it so people forget them.
Thanks for reading this overlong rant!
