Asia Song Festival 2008

With the recently concluded Asia Song Festival last October 4, many have speculated as to what has happened in terms of - one: audience turn out, and two: SNSD response. Was there another boycott? Did SNSD get another silent treatment or X-mark?

This is what is said to be the seating plan for the Festival.


Notice the big space allocated for the Cassiopeias, Shinee World, and Triple S. Sone's were left with a single block to represent their nine girls. I think it is safe to assume that organizers for this event are taking the precautionary measures to make sure people don't get hurt. Even going as far as making sure that Sones don't get near Cassies AND Triple S... without being too obvious of course. (Anyone remember CaTriEl?)

This shot was supposedly taken from the left side of the stage, over looking Triple S FC and two other non-Korean artists.

Still... the stadium looks so empty..

I wonder why the stadium isn't full of fans because the festival is supposed to be FREE of charge and as you know Cassiopeias alone can fill the stadium in no time since DBSK is there and a lot of Asian stars attended the festival. Could it AGAIN be SNSD?

And it has been confirmed that SNSD did take home the award for Best Artist in Asia...


And apparently, so did the rest of the artists who were present there, including their moms.

LOL.

Kidding aside, I think this whole award thing is a joke. DBSK and SS501 have already established themselves, not just in Korea, but in Japan and other Asian countries. This award is just a recognition of their overall achievement. Even Shinee got Rookie Artist of the Year award. Which in itself is an understatement. Shinee got a much bigger (and better) response in one month than SNSD had in more than a year.

So where does SNSD come in there?

Because aside from Korean Sones (who are even slowly getting extinct), we have yet to see any ASIAN country who will wholeheartedly accept SNSD. (Anyone remembers China?)

But we here in STAND always brings the truth. So yes, SNSD did have people cheer for them... though it's not what we - SANE fans - are usually used to, though...

Notice the empty middle seats... while we get to see red lights dotting that section, the empty spaces also make a stark contrast to the Red Ocean above.

I think its really obvious that its so empty cause of them. I mean, that's what happened to SM concert also.

Everybody was so busy attending MBC Campus Song Festival which have MORE artists there to perform.
It is more celebrated.
If you don't believe me,you should see WG special stage with Younha,Bobby Kim and Kim Gun Mo.
It was more packed.

Berryz Koubou is around their age but Berryz Koubou look what they should look like for their age. Unlike SNSD who looks really old and still calls themselves girls generation.

They performed 4 songs and the reason the arena looks so empty is because unfortunately by the time the fireworks went off, most people had already left.

Also, everyone and their mum received the "Best of Asia Award". Really the whole point of "best" is that your the....well, BEST. As in better than everyone else.

That pic of the fireworks is actually a shot of the fan corner where Triple S was sitting and the Berryz Koubou and next to them is Shin SeungHoon. There werent that many fans in that corner and the fireworks are blocking the Trilpe S from view. (But some seemed to have left nonetheless, SS501 had performed much earlier that day and were at the MBC thing too,Hyunjoong for sure)

why did they give out awards? i thought this was a celebration of Asia's unity..so they are saying those present are the elite in Asia? sure... My first time seeing a best artist that is so hated...what a gimmick

It sucks that other artists have to suffer this... Everybody seemed to be at the mbc song festival though... which is very sad, considering they were welcoming foreigners and all... at least cassies were there

How can they win the "Best Asia Artist" Award when the whole Asian continent despises them?

i wouldn't be irritated if TVXQ or BoA or Se7en or Rain got the Best of Asia Award but SNSD?! that's total crap..and why would they give an award anyway?! it's a unity concert not an award show..maybe the arrangers where trying to make SNSD's butts look good because foreign media was there as well..

even if they "won" Best of Asia award it still doesn't mean anything..
1.) coz papa SM probably bought it for them
2.) all of Asia knows that they don't deserve it

Just as another note, SNSD fans were sandwiched between SHINee fans and SHin SeungHoon. LOL. ajummas and noonas. Apparently as soon as SNSD performed the buggers left the Arena.

I think they feared their lives cos Ajummas/Noonas > InSanes.

Add it in after the Asia award, so we see how much of an impact they truly made to Ajoushis and their lives.

Thats the only credit I will give them, they made Ajushis get more involved in Kpop. Problem is, that sucks for everyone, especially their families and children.

Poor tent bars, no more Soju being sold out~ instead its the Noraebang and SNSD songs on playback.

AND LOL~ Im sure everyones mother appreciated the awards, but Im afraid they have as much worth as the "Soccer Semi Final Runner Up Award" does.

the whole award thing is a joke to me cuz everyone who showed up got some kinda award so when they ran out of ideas they just stick the asia awards to SNSD.
I think Cass shouldnt stay home cuz u know SM hate them and refused to let them win. why are they letting him win? they should fight back and attend all the shows so that those freaks have no where to sit. take up all the seats and all the banner space.
