We have proved it the last SMTownLive how SM pretty much pays off the media to make out as if nothing bad happened at the SMTown gig.
Apparently SME has reached a new low by singling out the largest Official Fanclub in the world. Cassioppeia.
It was only a matter of time til they singled someone out and victimised a single FanClub, and this is seriously a new low, even for SM.
Before I get to what actually happened, let's take a recap to SMs dirty guide of Damage Control....
For that we need to take a trip back in time and see how SM dealt with the media after every public boycotting:
- 2008 I love You Korea Dream Concert.
The Dream Concert was a very hard case of "damage control", considering of course that the entire field was full of media reps and camera equipment and the like. There was a huge backlash concerning the event, with everywhere quoting the "10 minutes silenceing of SNSD" (소녀시대 침묵). A lot of what was going around was why? And how could those three Fanclubs get together? (Cassioppeia/Triple S/ELF aka Ca-te-El). With questions of why and how was it planned and what have SNSD done were spreading, SM thought of an intriguing form of "damage control" and that was the Mnet Dream Concert Documentary. That very documentary was well done, in the sense that it left people thinking that the fans involved in the boycott were petty, jealous, overly obsessed individuals. Marking the SNSD girls as victims simply. Boycotting SNSD was not enough it seemed after DC, it was humiliating for the three main FCs involved, to be pegged those "jealous fangirls without reason". If all these people were jealous, how was the entire Jamsil Stadium silenced? You could hear the cicadas in the night breeze, but apparently it was just full of jealous hate and not fans who have "had enough of the tyrannical rule of SME and their forcing of SNSD in to every corner of Celebville". One step down, a few steps left. Once again the true purpose of these fans was ignored. - SMTownLIVE 08 Seoul
SMTownLIVE was going to take place in the same place that DC had, Jamsil. And after the CaEl fans were humiliated by SM with their tainting of media coverage, they tried another tactic. Boycotting the entire show. Word had spread that there would be an embarassing turnout for SMTowns family get together. Publicly. Once SM got in to damage control gear, they started giving away tickets for free and just in case, there was no official press box or press area. SMTownLIVE Seoul came and went, we covered the event and it was obvious how truly embarassing it was. This is SM, this is one of the largest Entertainment companies in korea and they couldn't even get a full house. The fans who did show up though did not take much of a liking to SNSD either, the black out technique was used again to show their dismay in the events. But what happened once again? This time SM came prepared, reporters and newssites were paid off beforehand and even some articles were printed before the show ended (there is proof in the first link). And now the fans were pegged as liars and were ignored. Another step completed.
And now, SMTownLIVE ShangHai can be included in that dirty list.
Think of it logically, the first step in Seoul with DC, was a silent protest, the second step was half boycott and half silent protest. In China they chose to clearly exhibit their frustrations and dismay in SNSD with the 'X's. As the fans get more agitated and display their frustrations and protest in a civil manner, SM choses to once again stab them in the back with another low blow.
In the beginning, it was clear that SMs hold on Chinese media was the same as he had in Korea. They had paid off more reports that resulted in favoring SNSD as opposed to delivering the news. That in itself was harsh enough, but we are guesing that SM had no inkling that within hours, pictures of the 'X's and black ocean would be released online via daum. Check the date on that thread, it was literally released on the same day as the concert. While SMs eyes were on China, their grip on Korea was waning, thus SM had to try and stop researched articles in to the matter such as this one in DCnews. How could SM do that you ask? Like this:

"SNSD's performance in ShangHai led to a protest from DBSK's fans"
However, not every group was as popular (as DBSK and SJ). The first on stage was CSJH who used Chinese to introduce themselves. Fans didn't give much response, until SJ's KyuHyun came to sing "Just for One Day" (Translators note: not sure of the song name), which led to cheers from the whole stadium. A cold response was given to SNSD. As soon as they wore their short mini skirts to perform, the whole stadium of fans distinguished their glowsticks. More than half the fans used their sticks to make a X as protest. Apparently earlier this year, SNSD made a CF with DBSK which led to a lot of fans' distaste, leading to the night's protest. Maybe affected by the X shapes, one member fell with huge embarassment."

"Other singers include Zhang Li Yin and girls group, CSJH. Although there weren't as many fans (in comparison to DBSK and SJ), their breath taking performance led the whole stadium to applaude. However, SNSD met a cool response (from the audience). During their performance, part of the audience used their glowsticks to make a cross shape in protest. It has been reported that more fans boycotted due to the CF they made with DBSK. It may be due to the negative emotions that led to one member falling on stage, making the whole atmosphere more embarassing."
More or less, on the 15th of September the newssites decided to cover the event. Initially the coverage of delusion was not enough to mock the fans and their efforts. SM had to go further by ridiculing the entire cause and victimising Cassioppeia as the jealous overly posessive fangirls, as of course they had done initially after the first boycott. They even made out slyly that there were no fans there to support the other female artists, although that is of course another lie.

It's unbelievably insulting to those that took part (besides SNSD), to those attending and to those that had also boycotted the event themselves due to their sheer disgust. To blame it on the Haptic CF? To blame it on Cassioppeia? Simply put, apparently the other Fanclubs on the night were never there, apparently the blue glowsticks (ELF), Pink (Shapley) and Mint green (Chocolates) were just fireflies of different species. The pictures loitering the net with glowsticks of other colors like the one above were shunned and disregarded as what, false evidence?
Personally, I forgot completely about the Haptic CF, I simply didnt give a damn, I wasnt going to buy that overpriced phone so why should I bother. The thing that stood out the most with the entire fiasco was the tirade of SNSD fanboys accusing DBSK of "Sexual Harassment". They even went as far as collectively searching for the term (DBSK Sexual Harassment) on the internet in order for it to come up on the "most searched" list on searchengines. In fact, the ones that did make a big deal out of it were SNSD fans, so why is the blame and the cause pinned on Cassioppeia and that ridiculous excuse of a CF?
Why the victimisation and humiliation of Cassioppeia? It just makes no sense. Is the reason of protest so simply just "jealousy"? Let me make things clear.
The word 'Jealous' is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as:
1 envious of someone else’s achievements or advantages. 2 resentful of someone regarded as a sexual rival. 3 fiercely protective of one’s rights or possessions: they kept a jealous eye over their interests. 4 (of God) demanding faithfulness and exclusive worship.
Now looking at this objectively, one wouldnt be surprised if "jealousy" surely was the reasons of some fangirls. It makes sense, these are boybands, most of their fans are girls, so logically it is a possibility.
Now once again let's look at things from a logical and objective stance. Would jealousy bring all these people together regardless of nationality, gender or race for simply protesting against one group? The people at DC, over 30,000 and the stadium was quiet and turned off their lightsticks, in SMTownLIVE the majority of the crowd did the same and some didnt even show up, just for jealousy?
Envy is a sin, envy is the highest form of jealousy, so wouldnt it make sense that if it was due to envy that these people would not be civil? They would not simply keep quiet and turn off their lightsticks. Things have now reached a stage where the fans cannot just ignore the humiliation and defemation of character as a whole by SM Entertainment. Things have been done peacefully, why can't our demands be met? Why can't we be listened to? How long can you continue to pay off the media and try to dictate the news to the masses? Sooner or later people will realise that the world is not how SM paints it to be in regards to SM Entertainment.
Fans so far have still benefitted you, but us anti-fans of SNSD, stand by our own. You cannot single out one of us to take the blame. You cannot continue to exploit us while you trample us all the same. You cannot be left to continue victimising us and brandishing us out to all be jealous and petty.
SM entertainment needs to take note of the cyclical reign of Empires. You began from nothing, the fans made you something, these very fans can be the cause of your downfall.
